Despite objections by a defence lawyer, US prosecutors have released video footage of a police officer using what has been described as ‘excessive’ force against a 15 year old girl in a police holding cell. In the video, Deputy Paul Schene is seen kicking the girl, slamming her against a wall, grabbing her hair and then throwing her to the ground where he then punches her.
Schene has pleaded not guilty to a charge of fourth-degree assault. The young girl, arrested for auto theft, was subsequently also charged with assaulting the officer. Obviously she thought she could do him severe harm by battering his fist with her head.
