A Sheen-bomb lands in Detroit

Troubled actor Charlie Sheen was aiming to get his career back on track in Detroit with the first of 22 sold-out planned one-man shows in 20 US and Canadian cities, but his aim seems to have been a trifle high. Or is that Sheen himself? No matter.

Sheen was jeered, booed and heckled and some of the audience began walking out after only fifteen minutes as the show well and truly bombed. The show, a mixture of monologues, rants and video clips, eventually ended after one hour when Charlie Sheen failed to return after a musical break.

Some of the audience described his material as ‘nonsensical rants’. Sheen opened with a monologue, telling the audience: “I am finally here to identify and train the Vatican assassin locked inside each and every one of you.”

He then went on to talk about his “napalm dripping brain” and described himself as “a giant and leaky bag of mayhem”. He even asked the audience: “Is anybody else as confused by this as I am?”

The actor has been full of what are being called ‘Sheen-isms’ recently, his strange outbursts being reported in the media or transmitted via social networks such as Twitter.

The title of the one-man shows should have been a clue as to what the audience was letting itself in for: Violent Torpedo Of Truth: Defeat Is Not An Option.

Sheen was very good in the hit TV series Two and a Half Men and the show turned him into the highest paid TV actor, but he seems to be on a downward spiral at the moment. It is just to be hoped that he seeks, and gets, the necessary help to sort himself out before he self destructs.
