Business concerns over the situation of the sewage treatment plant in Nerja

Many local business owners are displaying their relentless efforts as they join forces to collaborate to remove any obstacles to move forward in the building of the new plant situation.

In a recent letter to the mayoress, Rosa Arrabal, they showed their support to all of the efforts that have been realized so far and list their concerns regarding what is left remaining to establish the infrastructure.

Their determination was also revealed, in their personal offers to assist with disputes that exist between the town hall and the Department of Environment.

The businesses state that “ the correct formula to settle the existing situation, is not to engage in questions with the Spanish Parliament and waste more precious time, as this would not materialize in a fast result between parliament and the town hall”.

They say that they are concerned that even after many months have passed since there was an unanimous approval from the constitution of a Commission of Investigation on the topic, and yet is still is without results.
“We think that it is indispensable that there exists a desk where the different political parties are present, the municipal technical staff, the technical representatives and politicians of the Department of Environment and representatives of the construction firm.”

They suggest giving this desk a voice and a listening ear to hear direct information of the problems that keep the works of the EDAR paralysed.

They proclaim that Nerja deserves that the EDAR start functioning as soon as possible and with all of the promises in mind. Nevertheless, they affirm, “If this situation keeps on prolonging, we will have to take the opportune initiatives to defend Nerja’s interests”.
