Nerja Civil Guard’s Warning: “Never Leave the ATM cashpoint if it does this”

There are five warning signs that the Civil Guard is asking people to be alert to:

1)      A false front at the Cashpoint: it takes your PIN and cash.

2)      A bulky card slot: it may mean that there is a skimmer, which duplicates the magnetic strips on credit cards.

3)      A loose or blocked slot: there is likely to be a “Lebanese loop”, a metal device inserted into the card slot which prevents the machine ejecting the card.

4)      A loose keyboard: it is false and is reading your details.

5)      Strangers hanging around: they may be watching what you’re doing and waiting for you to get distracted.

Members of the public are advised to contact the police if anything suspicious is seen.
