According to reports coming out of Nerja, the towns Urban Planning department has sent an expert to work with the Guardia Civil on the case which goes by the name “Operation Rubbish.”
Located in an old quarry the illegal dump covers an area of 802,000 cubic metres and contains mostly waste dumped by a group of construction companies in Nerja.
Numerous environmental infringements have been found that include breaches against mines, waste, water, protected natural space and a danger of forest fires, all of which pose a risk to the local population.
