My wife and I atehere last week and it was absolutely superb.
It’s all to easy to ruin a nice atmosphere with poor service or food, but Calabaza was excellent. Unknown to the staff it was our 10th wedding anniversary and my birthday, yet they could not have been more attentive and professional.
However, it is ultimately the food that determines whether a restaurant should be praised, and in this Calabaza was faultless.
We loved the area and plan to return, and certainly Calabaza would be high on our list of places to re-visit.
Well done and we wish you on-going and deserved success.
We have been to Nerja for a number of years and are amazed at the standard of the food and service available in Calabza. We dine there at least twice per visit. An excellent venue for that special night out. An experience not to be missed congratulation to all the staff.
This is right up there in our personal ranking of superior Nerja and Eastern Costa restaurants. Good ambience, inventive cuisine well prepared, and excellent service apart perhaps from a member of the waiting staff who seems to think he or she is the star of the show to the point of intrusiveness on occasions. Perhaps a tendency to get a little too clever with some of the combinations/presentation, but all in all deserves its reputation for having come from zero to hero of the Nerja fine dining scene in hardly any time at all. The chef and co-owner are delightful and passionate people and we just loved the adjoining ‘fine tapas’ (paid for) and sushi (some nights only) bar – a seriously hip alternative to run-of-the-mill tapas joints.
Went there for third time last night. Their menu, preparation and presentation all leave others way behind. In my view currently the best restaurant in the town albeit at a slightly higher price than the “classic” Spanish style eateries. Service is impeccable with very friendly staff who understand their menu.
Had the cod which was wonderfully cooked with the most exquisite sauce. The wine list is very inventive too.

Visited Calabaza for the first time in over a year on a recent visit. Still in my opinion the best restaurant in Nerja. Keep up the great work
