This is a really place to go for a leisurely breakfast on a sunny morning (and Nerja has plenty of those!). Sitting near the fountain with a newspaper, a coffee and some toast and watching people going about their daily business is a lovely way to pass the time. In the evenings it’s good to sit there and have a drink while the local elderly people sit around the fountain or on the benches chatting and just enjoying each other’s company or watching little children play.

We had dinner there two times in week 6 – 2012, so its obviously open again.
Very nice French Relais food,very nice staff and not too expensive.
Good advice about the Wine selection. Very recommendable.

Horrible food! I can´t imagine why anyone would recommend this restaurant. I had sole with champagnesauce…the fish was overcooked and dry, and the sauce had been nowhere in contact with champagne, it was all just milk och wheat flour. Really bad. My partner had lengoustines in “whiskysauce” – again it was milk and wheat flour, just with some brown colouring. Everything completely tasteless. How anyone can work in this kind of restaurant with yet some dignity is beyond me. The service wasn´t good either. Honestly, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life.

The Bamboo Bar is a lovely location to watch the setting sun – nice big terrace and friendly staff. Beautiful views of Torrecilla Beach. Slight pigeon problem but they don’t do any harm!

Love Papagayo! Great place to nip up from the beach and cool down with a long drink and a bite to eat during the hottest part of the day. Also have had some fab evenings there when they have live music on. It’s quirky and has character, great location but don’t go if you have a cat phobia as lots of Nerja’s famous cat population tend to hang around it (I personally love cats so this doesn’t bother me at all).

I personally love Portofino – it’s my little place to go on my own with a paper or magazine and just sit looking down at the beach in peace and quiet, completely chilled out. Perhaps I have always been at quieter times, but I have never had a problem with it.

We have eaten here a few times over the last 5 or 6 years but not so much recently as we found that the service was incredibly slow – although it goes get so busy in high season that you do expect to wait then. Lovely terrace which is fab on a nice warm evening, and the food is nice, but you need to get right into the manana mentality and be prepared to wait a long time for your food at certain times of the year!

Family owned & run. Very friendly. Full menu or just for drinks. Small interior but tables also outside, with awnings/parasols. Free WiFi available. Recommended.
