El Pulpito is located at the bottom end (Torrecilla beach end) of avenida Castilla Perez and was formerly Il Bambino.

El Pulpito, Nerja

It is a reasonably sized bar area with a fairly large, covered terrace with a nice view down to Plaza Fabrica de los Cangrejos.

It is a fairly typical family-run Spanish tapas bar, the whole family helping out. The tapas are not on display but when you order your drink you are given a list of what is available that day.

On my first visit I had a beer with an Ensalada Malagueña tapa – potato, tomato, fish, onion, orange – and very nice it was too. A beer and a tapa will set you back €1.50 (July 2011).

The bar opened the day before our holiday finished in early July. Very good tapas and a great addition to that area of Nerja which is dominated by restaurants with only a few tapa bars.

On my second visit, after a long, hot walk and dying for a beer and a tapa, I waited at the bar for at least five minutes while three of then faffed around trying to make one cup of coffee. None of them even looked around to see if anyone else was waiting. Only one other person in the bar – the one waiting for the coffee. I’m afraid I walked out and am unlikely to return.

as we arrived in nerja this bar had just opened. there were 12 of us in total & we arranged to meet here most nights. They looked after us very well, with drinks and plenty tapas. we are going back to Nerja in October & will certainly be going back to this bar.

Shabby little place. It was much nicer in previous incarnations. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves last year watching the footy on the big screen and nice chill out tunes afterwards. Another in a long, long line of me too tapas bars.

Just back from Nerja and we’ve gladly added El Pulpito to our ‘faves’ list. Really nice new refurbed bar (certainly not Shabby) combined with large terrace. The tapas was excellent and varied. Indeed we tried Migas for the first time here. Dine here on a few occasions and as the name suggests the speciality of the house Octopus was excellent. Can wholly recommend!
