La Mariposa, Nerja

La Mariposa is a lovely bar towards the top of calle Cristo (Post Office street) and serving a good selection of tapas.

There is a nice, friendly atmosphere in the bar and the staff are always jovial.

  1. Jenny Reed says:

Charming young Spanish couple serve an excellent selection of quality wine at very reasonable prices, plus beer and spirits of couse, under masses of hams hanging from the ceiling. Tapas seem to be whatever they fancy cooking or slicing – we had delicious tempura-style deep-fried aubergine pieces drizzled with dark smokey honey. Excellent.

  2. Joyce and Tony Harwood says:

We visited Rodrigas and his wife at the lovely La Mariposa a few evenings ago, great place, great tapas, good atmosphere, we wish them well.

  3. Ann Morland says:

FANTASTIC!!! Loved this place. Rhodrigo and his gorgeous wife Sonia are a great team who work really hard and it shows.
The place is spotless, fabulous tapas, beautiful wines, a good selection of spirits.
Popular with locals and tourists alike.
If you want to experience a truly great welcome from a lovely couple go here,(Just to hear Sonia laugh is like music) we are going back in October. Sonia is making Scouse.
    Best wishes Ann,Glyn,Christine and Robert.

  4. MARGO SPRIDGEON says:

We classed this as our ‘local’ went in every day bar one whilst on a weeks holiday. It is a locals bar so dont dress up but you will be very surprised at the quality of the wines and tapas, excellent. A good find.

  5. Anne McMahon says:

hello, can any body confirm the new location of La mariposa, I read in the Tripadvisor that it has moved to some where near the Balcon. It was closed during our last visit @ christmas of 2011, replys appreciated.

  6. BRIAN O'DONNELL says:

The couple have opened a new bar called Meson Dona Lola , after the owners granny. It is situated opposite Lizzaran in the plaza or restaurants behind the ice cream shop on the Balcon. Great tapas and some unusual dishes on the menu , not seen elsewhere.

  7. John says:

Went in here a couple of times in May 2012. New owners very friendly & tapas delicious, mostly home cooked. Definitely recommended.

  8. Jennifer says:

Amazing tapas and the owner Danny or Petie as he is also known, is so friendly. We had a special request for a certain type of tapa and he gladly obliged. Very reasonably priced too!

  9. Probably the best tapas in town.Varied and of excellent quality with very good house wine.Very friendly atmosphere although the downside is the awfully bright lighting accompanied sometimes with loud music.
