La Tahona
La Tahona is a smallish taberna tucked away in Plaza Garcia Caparros, just off calle Fray Junipero Serra – that’s the street joining avenida Castilla Perez with calle Antonio Millón.
Outside in the Plaza there are a few high tables for those occasional warm days. Inside, the is a reasonably sized bar area and then through an archway is a separate area for ‘proper’ eating.
There is a large TV screen on the wall near the entrance but you’d hardly notice it, certainly not intrusive.
The tapas are free with the drinks, a beer and a tapa costing €1.50 (May 2009). There is a small array of tapas, maybe a dozen, on show but others are also available. They also serve raciones.
Quite spartan as far as furnishings go, but has the nice touch of the hams hanging over the bar. A relaxing place in a strange sort of way and definitely worth a visit.
