Lan Sang Lan Sang, Nerja

Popular restaurant serving quality Thai and Laotian cuisine. There is a small terrace on the square.

Open for lunch Tuesday to Saturday, open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday. Closed Mondays.

  1. This would rank way up there in anyone’s choice of a Thai restaurant anywhere in the United Kingdom. And that’s without the added bonus that much of the menu is actually derived from Laos and so, somehow, is more interesting than the Thai that you thought you knew. Top quality ingredients, cooked and spiced properly, well presented by ultra friendly staff and some interesting ‘never seen that before’ choices on the menu. Proper veggie options too. Unusually for an Asian restaurant, they have an excellent selection of wines and have gone to the trouble of matching wines with food types and producing a leaflet helping you to make your selection. It is a neat touch that epitomises the attention to detail at this delightful, popular restaurant that has a high rate of return visits, always a sign of something good happening. Outdoor terrace for warmer weather. Special lunchtime menu available. Early-bird budget menu in the evening at some times of year but not in peak season.

After high expectations we were very dissapointed with the result. Starters of soup and prawn rolls were fine.Main meal went terrible wrong! We ordered red Beef Curry, Grilled Prawns with lime dipping sauce and Noodles with vegatables. The curry arrived on a cold dish and then the remaining dishes took another 15 minutes to arrive, the dinner plates were cold and there were no food warmers available the result we had a cold meal and the portions were very small. We asked for coffee afterwards but after another wait of around 15 minutes we were told the coffee machine was broken and so we had to go without. In spite of the foregoing we were still charged the full ammount for the meal which we paid and there was no offer of compensation for our ruined evening. We will not return and would not reccomend this restuarant.

  3. Simon says:

The food is very good, but has become vastly overpriced in recent months. Paying 40 euros a head is way too expensive for a 2 course meal! It just means we will eat there once a quarter, and not once a fortnight!

We’ve travelled extensively in the Far East and this restaurant surely has to provide some of the most authentic Asian food in this area. Were there again on Saturday and must say …. It’s fabulous!
