Fabrica San Miguel in Nerja

One of the lesser known listed sites of interest in Nerja is the old Fabrica San Miguel on Calle Puente Viejo. Apart from the archway, little remains of the sugar factory apart from a few crumbling walls here and there.

 

 

The sugar factory, known as Ingenio Nuevo, was built by Miguel Gonzalez Sanchez on land he bought from Larios. However, upon his early death in 1869, the land was put into the hands of his creditors and ended up back with Larios.
