Nerja - Nerja4Kids
So, what does Nerja have to offer by way of diversions and activities for families who have children, especially young children?
Take a leisurely tour of the town the old fashioned way. Starts (and finishes) at the Balcón de Europa and lasts +/- 30 minutes. Cost is €30 per carriage, regardless of number of occupants.
There are two indoor soft play areas:
Chiquipandi in calle Antonio Ferrandis 7
and
Dino Park in Almirante Carranza.
There is a small skatepark near the Nerja Club Hotel/Supersol supermarket on the N-340 coast road out of Nerja towards Maro and the Nerja Caves.

During the summer season, there is a bouncy castle and a trampoline installed at the bottom end of Plaza Fabrica de Los Cangrejos, near to Torrecilla beach.
A trip round town on the Tourist Train (or Wally Trolley as it is affectionately known). Starts and finishes in Plaza Cavana. Tickets are for a round trip, so you can get off en route and catch the train back later.
There are ordinary playgrounds with various pieces of apparatus in Plaza Marina and the Parque Verano Azul where you can easily supervise their activities yourself. There is often a 'bouncy castle' installed in the Parque Verano Azul during the summer.
How about a visit to the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary, located at the western end of town? Not only donkeys and mules to pet, but also quite a few cats and dogs. Great for the kids. Don't forget to take a carrot!!!
A picnic by the picturesque waterfall? Located near the cement factory in the Natural Park, the waterfall makes a nice walk but is also easily accessible - to within 100 metres - by car for those with very young children. There is a small pool at the base of the waterfall where you can, in summer, take a cooling dip. A popular destination for locals.
And, of course, there are plenty of beaches to choose from, and several offer activities for the kids.
The municipality of Nerja, which includes the village of Maro, has almost 16 kilometres of coastline, with numerous sandy coves and beaches in and around the town, Burriana Beach being the main and most popular
A trip to the fabulous Nerja Caves is a definite 'must'.

The Caves (Cuevas de Nerja) were only discovered in 1959 and contain wall paintings believed to be at least 20,000 years old. Only some of the huge chambers are open to the public, one of which has been converted into an auditorium capable of holding several hundred people. In the summer, this auditorium is used for concerts. Stalagmites, stalagtites, rock formations that look like faces - awesome.
Eating out is no problem, children are most welcome practically everywhere and at all hours, and many bars provide board games and even toys for the youngsters. Kids menus are available in most places. Overall, one would have to say that Nerja is actually a very family oriented place.
