There is a dance competition, salsa to be more precise, which will take place in Plaza de los Cangrejos on August 12th 2014, the International Youth Day.
There will only be one single category of ‘freestyle’ which can encompass any of the various genres of salsa, such as Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, linear, Los Angeles, New York etc. For the competition to go ahead there must be at least three competing pairs, with a maximum of ten couples.
First prize is €150, second is €80 and third prize is €50. Each couple will dance to their chosen music and the duration must be a minimum of 2 minutes and 30 seconds and a maximum of 3 minutes and 30 seconds. The music can be a mix of songs and the dance can be a mix of styles, but at least 75% must be salsa.
