Director of the History Museum stabbed to death

The director of the Nerja History Museum, 37-year-old Ana Maria Marquéz, was found stabbed to death in Torrox this morning, allegedly by her partner.

The incident occurred at 10:50 in the Conejito district of Torrox, neighbours alerting police to a heated discussion between a man and a woman. Police and medics arrived on the scene to find the woman dead. The partner was arrested on suspicion of being the perpetrator.

The detainee apparently has a prior record of abuse against a previous partner.

Ana Maria Marquéz, born in Córdoba, was an archaeologist by profession and since November 2013 was the director of the Nerja History Museum. She was a consultant in Archaeology, Museology and Cultural Heritage and was a BA in History.
