Legendary actor and director Orson Welles filmed scenes for his famously unfinished movie ‘Don Quixote’ in Nerja during 1961. The American director took shots on the Balcon de Europa and in the Portofino Restaurant. Welles was a regular visitor to the Malaga region from the 1950’s to 1970’s and his ashes were actually scattered into a well in Ronda at the home of his good friend, famous spanish matador Antonio Ordonez in 1987 following his death in 1985.
