Chanquete’s boat to be used as a new tourist information point

Barco ChanqueteNerja Cave Foundation will be signing a collaboration agreement with Nerja’s Town Hall in the next few weeks, by which the latter will transfer Chanquete’s boat from the TV series “Verano Azul”. The boat will be used as a new tourist information point, and will serve as a stop for tourists on the way to the caves and the exhibition area.

Jorge Hernández Mollar, president of the Foundation and government’s deputy minister reported the news. He explained that this well known landmark will serve as a stop for a tourist service train that will make the transport of visitors’ easier from the Verano Azul Park, where the boat is at to the Museum and Nerja Cave, thus allowing a more extensive visit.

It was also that “this measure will also impact the number of visits to the town center and the Nerja museum by thousands of tourists who visit the caves every year.”

He said that visitors will be able to get on and off the train as many times as they wish during the day, so that they can access all the different points of interest in the town, as well as having a stop at Maro.

He also added that the tourist train might provide an audio-guide service. This service will inform users about the monuments and sites that they can see: the aqueduct of El Aguila, Parque Natural Sierras de Tejada, Alhama and Almijara, the shrine of Nuestra Señora de las Angustias, the historic town center of Nerja, the cliffs and the church of Maro and the museum and cave of Nerja.
