Exhibition by Basque sculptor Jesús Lizaso

The Santo Domingo Exhibition and Conference Centre in Ronda is currently the home of an exhibition by the Basque sculptor Jesús Lizaso called ‘Otros y Toros’ and features pieces made by the artist 2002 and 2003 when he had very close contact with the world of bullfighting. The exhibition continues until September 30th.


Three-year-old rescued from pool after his arm got stuck

A three year old boy had to be rescued from a pool in Benajarafe, Vélez Málaga, after his arm became stuck in a suction pipe a few centimetres below the surface. Firemen partially emptied the pool and then chipped away at the concrete to rescue the boy who was then treated at the local Health Centre.


Police free captive woman in Torre del Mar

New library in Alhaurín el Grande

The new Camino de Málaga building in Alhaurín el Grande, which includes the Ildefonso Marzo public library, is now fully functional. The library, the most widely used facility, is open Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 13:30 and 16:30 to 20.30 and on Saturday from 09:30 to 13:30.


Easier parking in the centre of Ronda

Increase in unemployment

Registered unemployment in Spain rose by 1.5% in August to 3,969,661. This follows four consecutive months of decline in the number out of work. Unemployment in Andalucia also rose by 1.5% to stand at 877,011.


Mass grave in Cazalla de la Sierra, Sevilla

Excavation of a mass grave in Cazalla de la Sierra, Sevilla, has so far uncovered the remains of eight people who were shot in 1936 and 1937, with shell casings in the vicinity of the bodies. It is thought that the grave, several layers deep, could contain as many as 300 corpses. more »

Change in weather

Car sales fall in August

New car registrations during August were 44,578 units, a decrease of 23.8% when compared to the same month last year and the lowest figure since records began in 1989. Year to date, sales of cars and SUV’s is 730,906 units, an increase of 21.9% over 2009.


Minimum age for driving motos changes on Wednesday

Six Algerian illegals detained in Almeria

Sic Algerian men were arrested after they arrived by boat on Fabriquilla beach in Cabo de Gata natural Park near Nijar, Almeria. The boat was detected by the SIVE surveillance system and the Guardia Civil were ready and waiting when the illegals disembarked.
