Nesting Swallows

In 2004 we had a pair of nesting swallows who laid five eggs. All survived and grew to be healthy birds before leaving the nest. The nest itself was/is right above a door and even if people were walking in and out, the parents would still swoop in to feed the chicks.

In 2005, the same nest was used by another pair of swallows. Are they, in fact, offspring from last years’ nest? Can you see any family resemblance? Or are they the parents of this mob, returning to the same nest? Or are they totally unrelated? Interesting question!
