Public Holidays in Spain

In addition to 'normal' festive days, when you can expect most things to be closed, particularly banks and public offices, there are also what are known as 'puente' (bridge) days. If a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, a 'puente' occurs to make it a nice long weekend break. Some shops will be open on 'puente' days.
