MIMI's Bar
This is a chilled and classy bar, perfect for the more discerning customer who wants to mix with both locals and tourists. The perfect anti-dote to the nearby tutti fruiti square!! Mimi and her staff made me feel extremely welcome when i went in there by myself, it's that kind of bar, and i found myself going back each night!

Nerja Vacations We would like to thank John for all his help and assistance during our stay in Nerja. We booked our family holiday with this company and after many questions and queries they recommended exactly the ideal accommodation for our requirements. We had a fabulous holiday and have already booked for next year! Jan
La Raqueta On the main road going towards Maro, opposite Hotel Club Nerja. Dont be put off by 'posh exterior'. It looks intimidating but is excellent value, the food is great and it is good for just a drink. Staff really friendly. Debby
La Venta Restaraunt (road from Frigliana to Torrox) Good food, amazing views. Takes about 10 minutes n the main road out of Frigiliana towards Torrox on the left hand side. This is not a bar, but it is good value and the service is professional. An excellent lunch time venue particularly. Debby
The Bull Ring The first night we arrived in Las Rosas Nerja. We found our way to the Bullring, where we were looked after by the lovely owners. There were 5 of us and we all ate something different. We enjoyed the curry's (I personally Recommend the lamb curry) , steak & pizza. We were also given some tea bags milk and sugar so we could have a cuppa in the morning before the shops opened. very hospitable. Another night my son had fish & chips and they were great too. Beverley Russell
Caribbean Café Really imaginative and original, tasty food. Fantastic portions, we actually regretted our tasty starter as we were unable to do justice to our deliciuos main course!! Friendly, noisy parrots add to the carribean ambiance, its definately worth finding. cut up the street behind los Huertos, left past the beachshop at the roundabout, walk up the hill and its on the left. Worth the walk Mo
La Galeria - Calle Los Huertos First visit to this restaurant recently by my wife & myself. Excellent all round. It gets busy at night, so either arrive early or book. Ron
Bitter 'n' Twisted - Burriana beach Very friendly and helpful staff, great if your kids like our are fussy they will make any combination of food up for the kids. I can recommend the chillie cheese nachos (a side order) this is plenty big enough for a main for my husband and very very tasty. I would also recommend the Woolly burger but be warned you need to be hungry, it is big. Their deserts are just wonderful very very yummy and very large so save room. Letitia
Dancers Bar - Burriana beach Would like to say thanks to "Busy" Ken and Ally for a really good time last January 07. Good food and very good company. Cheers hope to see you again. Archie
The Bull Ring Nerja - Fish & Chips You have to try the fish and chips at the bull ring, they are the best and the portions are massive. A lovely place to eat. Brian and Jo (Durham)
Buenos Aires - Argentinian Steak House, Nerja An excellent meal, steak of course, served by friendly staff in a pleasant environment. Choose your evening carefully and you may enjoy your meal accompanied by two harmonious South American musicians (one from Argentina and the other from Chile). Well worth that little bit extra to dine here. Gwyn and Alyson
Hostal 3Soles This hostal is great like home from home, clean comfortable and convenient. We have visited several times and are returning in a few weeks, can't wait. Judith
La Barca I love a good paella and have tried several places in the area. Some, I must say, were disappointing, but a couple have been excellent. The first was at La Barca on Burriana beach. Large portions, full of good quality ingredients and reasonably priced at €5.75. The second was at the other end of town on Playazo beach at Chringuito El Breine. Again, good quality ingredients, nicely cooked in a huge pan outside on the terrace area. Both are definitely worth another visit. Bob and Ellie
Sevillanos Situated on Calle Gloria, on the corner with Post Office St. Very high quality and imaginative food at very reasonable prices with very friendly service. The fact that you often need to book is testimony to its popularity. Tony
The White Truffle Just got back from a great week in Nerja and can certainly recommend the White Truffle. It's a bit hidden away in calle Manuel Marin but well worth finding. The food is wonderful and quite reasonably priced. It's run by Lisa and Sian who make you feel really welcome. We will definitely be going back there again. Janet and Frank
Dancers Bar Would like to thank Ken, Allyson and Paul for making my husband and myself so welcome. Would definitely recommend this bar for breakfast or a light lunch or just a break from sunbathing on Burriana Beach. Rachel
Chiringuito El Breine Have to agree on that one. We went for lunch at the new Chringuito and thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent, the service was good and the portions were enormous. Definitely added to our list of favourites for our next visit. Sue and Brian
Chiringuito El Breine On another theme the new chirinquito along Playazo or should I say the reformed Pequena Colombia is well worth a visit. We were there on Andalucia day and with the outdoor section now including an outside cooking area plus loads of seats it'll certainly feature more in our lunchtime strolls. Joe
Restaurant Pepe Rico Pepe Rico has been a highlight of our last two trips to Nerja. Fantastic to sit outside and enjoy a bottle of wine and great food while "people watching" as crowds of locals and holidaymakers pass by. Also, in between courses I've been known to nip across to Pink Flamenco and buy some of their funky costume jewellery! Gorgeous food and great service makes Pepe Rico definitely worth a visit. We also like Papagaya bar just on the beach off the Balcon de Europe. Great pear cheesecake and nice music! Sue Payne
Big Al's Big Al’s has a traditional English setting with great British fayre. New owners Karen & Terry and their staff are very friendly and welcoming and when you walk in, you feel like you’ve been transported back to the U.K. Families are more than welcome and unlike so many restaurants in town the kids menu’s got nearly as many choices as the grown-up’s one! The Food Big Al’s Famous Breakfast Menu has something for every size of appetite. From Heinz beans on toast to the huge “Big Al’s Full Breakfast”. All made with proper English ingredients and available all day, every day. Big Al’s For Lunch and Dinner. Jacket potato, ploughmans, salads, sandwiches, baguettes, succulent steaks, sausages, burgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, cajun chicken, chilli con carne, cod & chips, home made pies, eat in or take away... Now I know why we need such a long lunch break in Spain! It takes me an hour just to decide what I’m having! Big Al’s Sunday Roasts are just like home only better! At home you don’t get a choice of Beef, Lamb, Pork or Turkey. Just what’s in the oven. Oh, and you don’t have to do the washing up! Big Al’s takes pride in offering a truly flexible menu, meaning you can have a steak for breakfast or start your dinner with dessert! And of course, Michelle wouldn’t be happy without dessert. Apple Pie is usually her favourite but so is the chocolate fudge cake, the bannoffee sponge and the lumpy bumpy pudding!!! So, get yourselves down to Big Al’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner (in whatever order you fancy) and enjoy the best bits of the UK (the food obviously) in Spain. Oh, and not forgetting, they offer free tourist information with every meal! Sept 06
Restaurant Ayo The restaurant at the end of the playa Burriana is called AYO and for me after 16years of going to Nerja and seeing restaurants appear as well as disappear this one stays. Its the best! Excellent paella and gambas at a fair price (your get to go and get seconds of paella for free!!) and if you go there keep a look out for the hunkiest waiter in town..... he works there and goes by the name of Alex. he's reall'ly friendly and speaks quite good english. go check him out.. o euhm sorry i mean the restaurant An every-year-visitor July 06
Nice Day Trip A lovely trip out from Nerja is to the stunningly beautiful Lake Vinuela. It takes some 30-35 minutes to drive to the lake from Nerja. Travel back along the A7 motorway in the direction of Malaga for 15 minutes exitting at exit 272 (by the El Ingenio Shopping Centre). Take the first right onto the main A356 and keep going in a straight line for about 15 minutes until you reach the lake - IGNORE any turnings for la Vinuela as these take you to Vinuela village that is not by the lake. There are several places to enjoy a leisurely lunch, especially recommended is the El Pantano restaurant right on the edge of the lake and Meson Sara in Puente Don Manuel village; for mainly BBQ type food the Camping restaurant next to El Pantano is also popular. For a coffee or drink visit the lovely terrace at the rear of the Hotel Vinuela - a popular setting for local weddings and, as our house is immediately across the lake from here, where we used to visit to spy on the builders when our place was being built! There is a very pleasant drive around the hills and valley surrounding the lake that takes about an hour from start to finish. On reaching the lake continue along the A356 for some 15km until you reach a set of crossroads - you pass a petrol station on your right about 2/3 of the way to the crossroads where the attached bar does a great cup of Coffee + Bacon Roll! Turn right at the crossroads and travel via Mondron - call in at the Olive Oil factory to purchase some of the best oil in the area - and Periana before dropping down to Puente Don Manuel and back to the lake. On Tuesdays call at the Estacion Bar/Restaurant midway between Periana and Puente Don Manuel to visit the excellent Farmers Market. Hope this may be of interest to someone! Casaianda 27/5/2006
Bar Portobello, Torrox English run Tapas bar below block 83 at Torrox Costa. Excellent Tapas selection - generous portion 75 cents. Great Spanish Tapas and unusual English ones too e.g. superb Liver + Onions or Pork in Pepper Sauce + Chicken Curry. Gets busy with Spanish, English and German clientele. El Murciano Tapas bar + Restaurant Great little bar just off the seafront at Torrox - well advertised - where a beer or glass of wine + Tapa is only 1 Euro. Casaianda 27/5/2006
Camaleón Restaurant At Mark’s invite we downed tools (and kids and dogs...) and took some time out for dinner for two at Burriana’s Camaleón Restaurant. The odd thing is that we’d planned to get away from home, but Camaleón is so homely (I only wish I had a bar that big and Maria in the kitchen!) that we felt right at home there. The atmosphere at Camaleón is a relaxed one, the coloured lighting lets you know why it’s called Camaleón, it changes regularly, (tonight was yellow night) as do various other items, to coordinate of course! We were served by Ben (who smiled enough to work with us) and was helpful but without getting in the way like some waiters can. Mark & Ben, two of the owners (the third, Mathew, was away on holiday), told us that one of the key things Camaleón prides itself on is the freshness of the produce used to make their dishes. “Everything is made fresh on the premises and none of our ingredients travel more than an hour and a half to get here”, “The herbs are even fresh from our own herb garden and the chips are made from real potatoes”. And you can tell, everything we tried from the menu was (sorry mum) better than home cooked. For starters we had Poppadoms with Mango Chutney and Quesilladas, Mexican tortillas filled with cheese, onion and tomato and served with natural yoghurt, both delicious. The main course took a while to decide on, the selection of international meat and fish dishes as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes was mouthwatering to say the least. I went for the Cajun Chicken which was excellently seasoned and cooked perfectly. Michelle had the Rosada, a fish similar to Cod. At this point I need to say that I have never been able to eat any type of seafood, but the Rosada looked and smelled so good I had to try it... it was fantastic! So much so that I think I’ll order it next time! Oh and the desserts! I’ve been trying to get Michelle’s diagnosis of the Mars Bar Cheesecake for two days but all I can get out of her is a Homer Simpson style MMMMMMM MARS BAR CHEESECAKE.. followed by insane dribbling! So you’ll just have to try it for yourselves! In summary, Camaleón’s international cuisine from an international team is not to be missed. We’ll be back for more smiles that’s for sure! May 1st
We have just returned from our 4th visit to Nerja. In the past we have stayed in the west of the town but this time we had a property on the east and discovered the Burriana Beach area. We tried a number of restaurants, some old favourites and some new. El Candil in the square opposite the Balcon still maintains a high level of quality and friendliness. Bella Roma, also in the square opposite the Balcon, produces the best pizzas outside Italy, and also provides friendly service. Our highlight of the holiday was finding Camaleon in C. Filipinas, the main road leading down to Burriana Beach. With its changing colour themes, a small but varied menu of freshly produced food catering for all tastes, including vegetarians, and attentive and friendly staff, this was a great find. Not only that but the owners mother lives 200m from our own home back in U.K. The Korns (Easter 2006)
A big 'thankyou' to the caretaker at Torrecilla Appartments Thanks to him for getting a taxi and getting us to the airport on time. Had booked taxi uptown previous day but it failed to turn up, a call from helpful caretaker and taxi arrived in 5 minutes. Will be back in Nerja in May. Tony
My husband and I have been visiting Nerja since 1989 and have now got our own property we have seen many changes mostly good (The Town Hall seem to have things under control) Pepe Rico with its outside terrace and freshly prepared food and Eva looking after you its a delight. El Colonia has the best Tapas on Burrianna beach (they change daily) They also serve a varied and extensive menu lovingly prepared by Sandra and served by her ever jovial husband Jose. La Teja (next to Monica) is Spanish. Try Sopa de Marisco and the suckling Pig both served piping hot and tasting wonderful. El Nino a bit expensive but Bibi and her staff offer a excellent choice (Fresh fish, Leg of lamb and fillet steaks to die for) They also have an extensive range of wines and the staff are happy to guide you Try H20 for a cocktails and sweet tapas. Simon and Matt even have internet connections!!! allowing you to keep in touch with home Christine Alcock
Hotel Plaza Cavana, Nerja A very clean well furnished Hotel in a very good location with easy access to shops bars and beaches. Evening meals were to a very high standard, if at a leisurely pace. Rooms are above standard for 3*. Roof terrace is a delight as is indoor heated pool. The Bar was small and friendly and leant itself to making friends. Monica stood out as a hard working and charming lady. She worked in the Restaurant and Bar and was probably expected to do more than was reasonable. My wife and I would certainly return to this Hotel. The only improvement that we could suggest would be to open the bar and have tea and coffee facilities during the day. If you do stay here do not miss an opportunity to visit Burriana Beach and sample the Paella and daily specials at Ayo's Beach Bar. Paella 5 Euros. A five Euro Taxi ride each way or a twenty minute walk down 116 steps and across the sand. Keith Ogden
My wife and I recently visited a restaurant called Camaleon in the Burriana Beach area of Nerja. The food was great. I had the best fillet steak I've had for some time whilst my wife had a superb home made curry. The home made apple crumble was also quite special. The atmosphere was wonderful. We were there on 'red night', the restaurant actually changes colour every night as explained by our waiter Ben. It's also a no-smoking restaurant which made a very pleasant change. My wife even found the ladies toilet to be a very pleasant surprise with a full length mirror, hand cream, deodorant etc available. We will certainly go back to Camaleon on our next visit to Nerja. David Grange
Paco-Mari & Los Trillizos This was the first restaurant we ate at on our first visit in 1987. 19 visits later and it still is up at the top of our list. Of course the building has been refurbished and is a very pleasant place to enjoy a good meal. Also no visit is complete without a meal at Los Trillizos. Spanish owned, the food is freshly cooked and delicious. See you next year. Joan
Charles being king of UK Hello, what about Charles being king of UK? I remember a a female American prophet in the beginning of 1961. She saw in future: 1) President Kennedy will be murdered. 2) Crown Prince Charles will never be king and 3) Europe will be united and than world will perished. At that time all absolutely outside of imagination. In 1963 you know 1) happened. In the 90ies I remembered to 2., when Charles wanted more to be tampon than king Since that I hope he will be king so that 3) will not happen! European Union will "unite" more and more countries..... Many greetings from Vienna Birgit The Bullring (Kim & Karen), El Zoco de Nerja Great company, good food , and good drink ,try their fish and chips. The Hut in the Sun (Gordon and Ang), Las Rosas . If you need a snack a drink or just lounge around the pool this is the place. Colin 15/09/05
Just arrived back in Dublin after a month in Nerja. Casa Luque in the Plaza Cavana is a really good place to go for excellent gourmet tapas. The decor is sophisticated and the staff are friendly and helpful. For a peaceful few hours and a nice bottle of wine from their vast selection, its hard to beat. A taste of real Spain in a family owned mansion dead centre of town yet cool calm and most enjoyably relaxing. I'll be back before Christmas!! Brian O'Donnell Dublin, Ireland
CostaCartridge.com Service the way we all want it but never get. (and it's free like it should be) Alex Checked it out and looks good to me. Webmaster
NERJAMAN. I used these people to find my property in Nerja. I found them on the Internet at www.nerjaman.co.uk. quite by accident when I was looking for information about Nerja. Their site also contains lots of useful information about Nerja and Spain. They were fantastic and found me just what I was looking for. At first I was worried because I was asked to meet the agent in a busy bar. Although this seemed a bit unconventional I can only give them praise. I am now the proud owner of a holiday home near Burriana beach. Thanks to Manolo and Susana. Anne. We recently spent a week in Nerja, our first time in Spain actually, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would like to recommend the paella at restaurant Ayo on Burriana beach. Good portions and reasonably priced. John & Marcia Cheshire
