Guardia Civil officers have arrested five people in connection with at least eight robberies with violence in the Mairena del Aljarafe area in Sevilla province.
Following a series of robberies of both homes and businesses in Mairena del Aljarafe, all with the same modus operandi, the police began their search for the robbers based on witness accounts. A patrol spotted a vehicle similar in description to one reported at the scene of one of the robberies and questioned the driver who, it was discovered, had a criminal record.
After a lengthy investigation, the driver was linked to at leat eight robberies in Mairena del Aljarafe, Palomares and Gelves. Three more arrests followed.
Further investigations led to the discovery of some of the stolen goods in Coria del Río, the town where the detainees lived, and a fifth man was arrested on charges of handling stolen goods.
