Barcelona win, Málaga don’t

Barcelona stay top of La Liga after a 5-2 win over Atletico Madrid, four of their goals coming in the first half.

Newcomer Ibrahimovic gave the home side an early lead and Messi added another a few minutes later. Dani Alves clattered home a long free kick to make it three and then Keita made it four.

Almost right on the break, however, Agüero got one back for Atletico and then Forlán added a second just after the start of the second half. An that’s the way it stayed until injury time when Messi grabbed his second of the night.

After a promising start for the Blue and Whites, another defeat, this time at the hands of Racing. Málaga should have taken an early lead through Baha but failed to seize the opportunity and it was Racing who found the net first, Arana driving home an angled shot in the 37th minute.

Duda levelled the score with a well taken free kick but it only took a few minutes for Racing to stick their noses in front once again, Morris getting the goal. The Blue and Whites tried desperately to salvage a point during a hectic last few minutes but it wasn’t to be.

Sevilla traveled to Osasuna and came away with three points, winning the match 0-2 with goals from Negredo and Kanouté.

Mallorca were comfortable 4-0 winners against Tenerife, the Canary islanders ending the match with ten men after Luna was sent off for a second bookable offence and Bertrán was sent packing for giving away a penalty near the end. Mario Suárez, Aduríz, Julio Alvarez and Webó were the scorers.
