Costa Animal Society

The Costa Animal Society, or just ‘CAS’ as it is more frequently known, has always seemingly struggled along from day to day trying to raise funds for its various endeavours. But they have managed it and full credit to the volunteers who have given freely of their time to make this possible.

Once again CAS are asking for help, not only on the financial side of course, that’s a never ending plea, but also on the staffing side.

Many of the current volunteers have been around for many years now, and their faces and names are familiar to us all, but that is set to change over the next few months. Several of the ‘old guard’, so to speak, have decided that the time has come for some new blood within the organisation, particularly in the higher echelons.

A new Treasurer is required as from December, Richard Thorne currently filling that post, and Kate O’Brien, who has worked tirelessly in coordinating the work with cats, is also proposing to step down.

As is Mike O’Brien and long time stalwart Wendy Thorne has announced that she will be stepping down from the post of CAS President at the AGM in March 2010. Wendy will continue to work for CAS, only not as the big cheese.

So, a lot of changes in the offing and a lot of opportunity for anyone wanting a challenge!
