The Council is proposing to discuss a motion to make the land at El Playazo beach available to the Ministry of Environment in preparation for the building of a promenade at the beach.
Originally, the Ministry of Environment wanted to appropriate the numerous plots of land but were persuaded by the Council to adopt a different approach whereby the Council would negotiate to acquire the land. So far, 40 of the 46 owners have reached agreement with the Council. Agreements with the remaining owners is in progress.
Once the lands are signed over to the Ministry of Environment, the necessary draft proposals and other administrative requirements can be drawn up ready for the start of the actual construction of the promenade.
The ultimate objective is one, long promenade link from Torrecilla beach to El Playazo beach.
