Valencia failed to regain top spot in La Liga after a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
Simão put Atletico into the lead after 19 minutes and it wasn’t until the 83rd minute that Adúriz earned Valencia a point. Meanwhile, Barcelona struggled to a 1-0 win over Sporting Gijón, David Villa scoring the only goal of the match in the 49th minute.
Barcelona are, of course, without one of their key players, Lionel Messi, through injury.
Málaga travelled to Getafe and came away with three points in a 0-2 win. Rondón gave the Blue and Whites the lead in the 54th minute and Apoño added a second from the penalty spot eight minutes later.
The Blue and Whites have shot up the table to the dizzy heights of eighth place. The leaders are only four points ahead, so there’s hope yet!
