Firemen in Valencia answering a call relating to the collapse of a roof in a building discovered the body of an 83 year old woman. The woman was found buried under the rubble.
At around 07:00, a group of people were having breakfast in the ground floor cafe El Pájaro Loco in calle Jacint Verdaguer in Santa Coloma, Gramenet, heard a rumbling noise and rapidly left the premises. Another resident of the block also vacated the building.
It seems that the roof on the third floor gave way and crashed down to the first floor. The body of the woman was found after a search of the rubble lasting around three hours. One other person was injured in the incident.
The facade of the building, built in the 1950’s, was not affected by the collapse.
