An 80 year old man has been detained on suspicion of killing his 78 year old wife at their home in urbanisation Carrió in Calpe, Alicante.
At around 15:00 on Saturday afternoon, a man called the police to say that his father had telephoned him to say that he had killed his mother. When police went to the home of the couple, both Belgian nationals, they were greeted by a man covered in blood and inside the house they found the body of a woman with injuries to the head.
The husband had several wounds and it is thought that he had tried to commit suicide.
