Vélez-Málaga Council has confirmed plans to suspend the tram service between Vélez and Torre del Mar as from November 1st and as part of the procedure, the tram concessionaire Travelsa has submitted a letter to the Council requesting the suspension of the tram and the temporary modification of the public transport service due to the inability of the Council to meet its financial obligations.
Travelsa has requested one month to modify the public transport system but the Council is determined to stick to the date of November 1st, adding that four new buses have been ordered and they are already in Málaga.
The suspension of the tram service is scheduled to continue until the Junta de Andalucia agrees to active financial participation in the scheme.
