Eight arrested in Palma in connection with child prostitution

The National Police in Palma have arrested eight members of an organised group who introduced minors, got the addicted and then forced them into prostitution and recorded sexual acts for later distribution.

The girls were forced to stay in this exploitative situation, which sometimes required not using condoms, in exchange for drugs or small amounts of money.

The minors were too embarrassed to reveal their addiction and activities to parents. The investigation into the activities of the group, two women and six men aged between 20 years and 60 years, began eight months ago following the death of a 16 year old girl whose body was found a few metres from her home. An autopsy revealed she had died as a reaction to drug abuse.

The detainees have been charged with child prostitution offences, facilitation of drug use and trafficking, and child pornography.
