Mijas Council has distributed license plates to the famous donkey taxis, carriages and donkey carts in order to facilitate the recognition of animals and their owners and improve tourist services in the town.
According to the Council, the new municipal ordinance is designed to assist in case of any claim or accident, so people can identify the donkey and who owns it, as well as to improve the quality of service, protect the rights of users and ensure that the animals comply with all the necessary hygiene and sanitary requirements.
The Council has issued license plates to 52 donkey taxis, 12 carriages and 17 donkey carts. The donkeys are one of the most photographed things in the town and the plates have therefore been designed to be conspicuous in order to promote the municipality of Mijas.
