Until now, street names in the Barriada de los Poetas are of Nerja have always borne the names of male poets. However, at the request of the Fuente del Baden Women’s Association, two new street extensions will be named after female poets.
One will be named after Gloria Fuertes, a poet from Madrid, and the other will be named after María José Oliver, a Málaga poet who died in 1890.
Another proposal related to the naming of various streets and roads in the Castillo Alto area of town, these to take the names of municipalities in Málaga province, such as Colmenar, Benamocarra, Comares, El Borge and Canillas de Albaida, to name but a few.
