Police in Barcelona have arrested a couple, an Italian man and a Brazilian woman, on suspicion of the negligent homicide of their baby.
At around 11:30 on Friday night, police received a call that a baby had died at a house in the Sant Martí district of Barcelona and went to investigate. The officers found the baby dead in a stroller.
The apartment was apparently not the most sanitary and police found traces of drugs. When asked about what happened, the couple gave contradictory explanations and as a result were arrested on suspicion of negligent homicide. An autopsy is being carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
The couple are a 42-year-old Italian man and a 24-year-old Brazilian woman, both resident in Barcelona.
