PSOE and IU in Andalucia reject request for commission of enquiry into fraud case

The PSOE and IU have voted against a request to create a commission of enquiry into the management of funds for training and employment by the foundation FAFFE, leading to accusations of a cover-up and support of the fraud reported by the Andalucia Audit Office.

The Andalucia Audit Office detected an amount of €50 million unaccounted for during the period 2009 to 2010. It is also claimed that the Andalucian Foundation for Training and Employment (FAFFE) has registered no activity since 2011 yet 120 staff remain on the payroll and grants of €26 million for 2013 and €24 million for 2014 are included in the budget.

The IU parliamentary spokesman, José Antonio Castro, has reportedly admitted that the employment policies and ERE were used in a crude manner to ensure social peace at an electoral level rather than for the intended purpose of resolving the employment situation.
