Guardia Civil officers in Alhaurín el Grande have arrested a 33-year-old man, a resident of Colmenar who evaded three police control points during a six hour period while reaching speeds of up to 200 kph.
The first incident occurred near Carratraca where a checkpoint had been set up to control and regulate traffic at a local fiesta. The driver approached at high speed and when signalled to stop, accelerated further, causing police and pedestrians to dive out of his path.
It was the same at a control point a few hundred metres further on, people having to dive out of the way to avoid being hit by the speeding vehicle.
The third incident occurred near Campillos where an alcohol control had been set up by Guardia Civil officers from Antequera.
The vehicle and its owner were finally traced and the driver was arrested.
