Rincon del Sabor Rincon del Sabor, Nerja

Rincón del Sabor is on calle Ruperto Anduez near the junction with calle San José, fairly close to the Parador in other words.

It is a very friendly, spacious bar with a nice enclosed terrace. There is a wide range of tapas available, including some small, speckled eggs, and they also do a very reasonable Menu del Dia.

The tapas are included in the price of beer/wine.

A recent change here is that the tapas are now only free with the drinks if you are at the bar. If you choose to sit at a table, either inside or out, you then pay a small amount for the tapas.

  1. John Montgomery says:

Good bar. Were in it last year when on holiday. We have been in it before but it was a bit different then. Estella the barmaid is a character (always laughing) and the tapas are good especially if you sit at the bar. You can also get a Racione of the Tapas. I liked the Morcilla (Black Pudding) Pinchos (?) (Kebabs).

  2. Nanou says:

Toujours aussi accueillants …. Bravo à Erly, Prisci, Estella y José !

  3. Linda Huckerby says:

Lovely welcoming owner, food delicous and cheap!!! great all rounder, cant wait to visit next week for his onion soup highly recommend!!! 5* food

  4. Clive says:

You found the owner welcoming? Whenever we have been there he has not managed to raise a smile. In fact just the opposite, and he has put us off returning. It used to be a much happier place before the owner started to serve at tables, but it always looks empty these days and we had assumed that he has frightened away all the potential customers!.

  5. I must agree with Clive regarding the owner, but Stella happy face sure makes up for his grumpy face.
Excellent tapas as well ,loved their blackpudding & peppers.

  6. Sheila says:

Ha ha Jose is a miserable so & so, however, I achieved the impossible last visit, I managed to get him to smile whilst I took his & Estella’s photo. She more than makes up for his “shyness” lol.

    • It’s the middle of summer. People are stressed out and you want restaurant staff to perform like trained monkeys for your amusement. Grow up!

  7. Sheila says:

Lighten up Rod, nobody wants anyone to “perform like trained monkeys”. I don’t think for one minute the fact that Jose doesn’t smile very often would put people off going to the Rincon, it is just a running joke, with us anyway.

  8. Not only does the owner not smile in summer, he doesn’t smile in any of the other seasons either!

He even looks quite stern most of the time. Scary.

  9. Fermeture en février 2012 !
Stella en profitera pour visiter la Belgique où elle a de nombreux amis.
    A bientôt Stella !

  10. Linda Huckerby says:

Had New Year’s Eve meal in here last week, and was actually greeted and kissed by the smiling owner, had a beautiful meal as always, as for all you’s he dont smile at…..well you either have it or you dont LOL!!!

    • crissie says:

You tell em girl,if he did smile we wouldnt have anything to talk about,
or call him “that miserable s..,my boy and my er hmmm grandson said
that the ribs were the best that they had tasted ever, and they know their ribs.
they are closed at the moment for a month, missing them……

  11. Anne McMahon says:

Just regarding the Rincon, visited once this past summer for tapas and again this this past christmas, which was on New years eve, as a lot of the places are closed the Rincon was busy, we just had tapas and I must say that it was totally crazy and poorly managed, the staff did not know which way to turn, too many staff doing nothing. No organization at all. Tapas just ok, but took way too long to serve, just ok, as for the people who sat and sat waiting for their dinner, i hope they are still not waiting. How long does it take to make a salad?, and they did wait because we waited quite a bit just to be served our tapas, there are a lot more places in nerja which are much better fun, and their service is promt and they want to serve you, I won’t be going back, it is a “rincon”, but it is missing the “sabor” nothing special
They only serve the tapas at the bar nowadays, not on the terrace.

  12. Danstheman says:

I would ask Anne if she would prefer all ‘authentic’ tapas bars to stay quiet and with only locals trade, so they end up failing and closing down, just so she can get her tapas more quickly? Shame on them, being busy on New Years Eve…

    • Marvelous Marvin says:

Touché!! The review that you commented on is so typical of the tourists who come to Nerja. Sad really. Some of these people should just stay home!

  13. MaggieP says:

Ate here a few weeks ago. Great service and even better food. Got a grilled sea bass, I don’t even like fish that much (but when in Rome…), and it was fantastic! Too bad I’ll never be able to get that good of a fish for that cheap price at home (Canada).

    Highly recommend eating here.

  14. We had just one meal in early November before they closed for a holiday and as always it was excellent. Service also good. The terrace is a bonus in the cooler months as you have sun until mid-afternoon and it is well sheltered from any wind. One of the best eateries in Nerja.

  15. A long while ago we used to have ‘tapas variadas’for lunch sitting outside, and they were wonderful. For a fixed price they brought you their own selection of very tasty dishes. Does anyone know if they still do them?

  16. The cleanest, most friendly tapas bar in Nerja – and some cooked to order. The quails eggs and the pork in tomato are SO tasty. The plonk de plonk is also above the normal vino de la casa standard. Perhaps not genuinely Spanish (Colombian) but more authentic than many. Lovely place, even if quiet at times, which can be a relief.
