Cantabria requests FLA funds

Cantabria has become the ninth region to request a bailout from the Autonomous Liquidity Fund (FLA), although it maintains that it is not a ‘bailout’ but a ‘funding formula’. The amount is a relatively modest €137.2 million and has to be paid back within a period of ten years.

Three dead in morning shooting

Three people, two men and a woman, died this morning after a shooting incident outside El Dueso prison in Santoña, Cantabria. The identities of the victims are not known at this time and a police investigation is underway.

ETA car bomb kills soldier

One soldier has died and six other people have been wounded, one of them seriously, following at ETA car bomb attack at the Virgen del Puerto Military Academy in Santoña. This was the third car bomb attack over the weekend.
