Government to extend the ‘state of alert’

The Cabinet has agreed to propose the extension of the ‘state of alert’ until January 15th 2011 to guarantee normal air traffic over the Christmas period. There will be a debate and vote on Thursday, but the Government has the backing of the CiU, PNV and CC although anyone can propose modifications to the proposal.

€50 million for extension to local train service in Sevilla

The Council of Ministers has authorised the Ministry of Public Works to begin the tender process for the extension of the local train service in Sevilla. The €50 million project includes the extension of the local train service to reach Benacazón and the commissioning of a new line, the C-5.

Paternity leave to be extended

The CiU has reached an agreement with Congress to increase paternity leave from 15 days to 4 weeks as from January 1st 2011. It is anticipated that the agreement will be approved on June 18th by the Commission and then passed to the Senate. The Equality Act, adopted in March 2007, established a period of 15 days for paternity leave.
