Vélez-Málaga Council has now completed the work on the pedestrian area along the N-340 coastal road connecting the towns of Lagos and Mezquitilla. The €300,000 project included the installation of street lighting and allocation of parking bays in Mezquitilla.

An 80 year old man was knocked down and killed on the N-340 in Lagos, Vélez-Málaga. The incident occurred at 22:35 on Wednesday night.

A cleaner Lagos
The village of Lagos in the municipality of Vélez-Málaga is now connected to the main collector of the new water treatment plant in Torrox, which means that raw sewage will no longer be discharged into the river and it should see an end to the pollution of the beaches.

Police were alerted to the presence of a stationary vehicle, engine still running, at an intersection in Vélez-Málaga and went to investigate.
