Yesterday saw the official induction ceremony for a new Local Police officer on secondment to Nerja with the Deputy Mayor Inocencia Quintero, Councillor for Public Safety Jonathan Méndez and the Police Chief in attendance. The Council is hoping to recruit a further four officers later this year.
Porn policeman sent to prison
A court in Sevilla has sentenced a 40 year old Local Police officer to two and a half years in prison for storing pornographic images of children, including babies, on his computer.
IX Annual Congress
More than 150 chiefs and administrators of the Local Police in Andalucía are meeting at the Antequera Golf Hotel in Antequera for their IX Annual Congress. Amongst the activities planned are trips to the Wolf Park, El Torcal Natural Park and a gala dinner at the Hotel Convento La Magdalena. Sunday will be a free day for the participants.
Jail for Mijas policemen suspected of drugs trafficking
The magistrate at the Number 2 Court in Fuengirola has ordered the four Local Police officers detained in Mijas on Saturday in connection with drug trafficking to be remanded in custody in prison.
