36,275 people chasing 153 vacancies

On Saturday, 36,275 young applicants began the first phase, a general knowledge test, of the six month process to become National Police officers. There are just 153 places on offer throughout the whole country.

Longer active service possibility for police officers

The Council of Ministers has approved a new decree which will allow members of the National Police and Guardia Civil to remain in active service until the age of 65 years if they so desire. The option is voluntary and does not change the current situation whereby officers can go to ‘reserve status’ from the age of 60 years.

National Police hacked

The National Police website was briefly knocked offline by the hacker collective Anonymous in retaliation for the arrest of three Spanish men the police claimed were ‘core’ members of the group.

The National Police is warning people not to open a dodgy email purporting to come from [email protected] citing them to attend court.

Three police officers arrested in Algeciras drugs bust

Two Guardia Civil officers, one National Police officer and two Spanish citizens of Moroccan origin have been arrested in Algeciras in connection with the smuggling of hashish into Spain via the port of Algeciras.

National Police officer sentenced to prison

A National Police officer has been sentenced to three months in prison and fined a total of €6,100 for causing the eyeball of a detainee in Marbella to pop out after slapping him because he wouldn’t sit down.

Five police officers indicted in Málaga

The Court of Instruction Number 9 in Málaga has handed out indictments to five National Police officers for alleged crimes of sexual abuse inside the Foreigners Centre (CIE) in Capuchinos.

120 new National Police officers for the Bahía de Algeciras

Yesterday saw the arrival of 120 extra National Police officers for various police stations in the Bahía de Algeciras area of Cádiz province. The official induction ceremony was held in Algeciras and was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba.

More police for Andalucia

Today sees an additional 240 National Police officers join the force in Andalucia, 199 for the west of the province and 41 for the eastern sector.
