The municipality of Cártama, population 24,000, has expanded its sports facilities with the inauguration of the Municipal Sports Complex Guadalhorce, built at a cost of €3 million.
The Council has decided to close the sports facilities in Olivar de las Monjas due to complaints by residents in the building adjoining this infrastructure.
Last weekend saw the inauguration of the new sports complex in Riogordo with the Minister of Tourism, Luciano Alonso, president of the Provincial Government, Salvador Pendón, and the mayor of Riogordo, Francisco Alarcón, in attendance.
Humilladero Council is installing artificial turf on the local football field, a project costing €459,910 and being financed by the provincial government.
The former owner of a plot of land being used by Ronda Council for the construction of a sports centre is requesting an injunction to halt the building works on the grounds that he has still not been paid by the Council for the land.
Ronda is set to receive €3.849,000 under the FEIL (plan Zapatero) and €899,000 from the Junta de Andalucia under the Programa de Transición al Empleo (plan Proteja), one of the main projects being the construction of a new sports complex in La Dehesa.
