Savings banks have reduced their workforce by 23,450 staff

Since the start of the financial crisis in Spain in 2008 and the subsequent enforced restructuring of the financial institutions, the savings banks have reduced their workforce by 23,450 employees and 4,587 branch offices have closed according to the Spanish Confederation of Savings Banks (CECA).

Estepona looking to reduce number of municipal employees

The Mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, has announced that the Council has been forced to present plans for a reduction in the number of municipal employees after union representatives apparently refused to consider wage reductions as one of the means to achieve the necessary €6 million cuts in personnel costs.
