Puerto Banus, named after the developer José Banús, was inaugurated in May 1970 and is located five kilometres from Marbella on the way to San Pedro de Alcantara. It is the playground of the rich and famous and a great place to cast envious eyes upon the Ferraris and luxury yachts that frequent the port. It has steadily grown over the years and features a casino, a Corté Inglés department store, marine observatory and cinema complex.

Nightlife in Puerto Banus offers a wide choice of alfresco bars, clubs and discos and the entertainment, which often doesn’t start until midnight, goes on until dawn. During the day, the most popular pastime is ‘retail therapy’, the port being home to all the most famous designer labels from Armani to Versace.
