Miranda and Diego Costa moved Atlético Madrid six points clear at the top of La Liga with a 0-2 win at Elche.
David Villa missed a penalty but, in the last minute, Diego Costa didn’t and victory was assured. Elche finished the match with ten men after Cristian Sapunaru, responsible for both penalties, was dismissed from the field of play.
Three more wins and Atlético will be crowned champions for the first time since 1996. First up is Valencia away, then Levante, also away, and Malaga at home. Failure to win all three and it could well mean that they will need a result away to Barcelona on the final day of the season.
