Up to 6,000 people are thought to have attended the first ‘macrobotellón’ of the new year in Sevilla yesterday.
Youths, many of them university students, began to gather at around 11:00 and between 15:00 and 17:00 there were estimated to be about 6,000 taking part. There were a few skirmishes between one group of youths and local police when the officers went to break up a fight but this was ended by a police ‘charge’.
