POSSIBLE SPILLAGE IN RIO GUADAÍRA

The ecology group ‘Alwadi-ira’ (Ecologists in Action) have noted a possible new case of pollution in the Rio Guadaíra after ‘foam’ or ‘scum’ was found in the stretch crossing the town of Alcala de Guadaíra in Sevilla province.

The group say that this sort of episode generally precedes a ‘spill’ of some sort. In this case, it is thought to be a new spillage related to the olive industry.

The ecologists are planning to march to the Cámara Andaluza (Government Office) in Sevilla to demand solutions to the discharges which regularly affect the river. The protest is scheduled to take place on Andalucía day, February 28th.
