A former Local Police officer in Albox, Almeriá, has committed suicide after apparently killing his wife.The bodies of the couple, aged 61 years and 54 years, were found side by side in the garage of their home by their daughter.
The former police officer had been suffering from depression and psychological problems for some time and was undergoing treatment at a local clinic. The police had already relieved him of his regulation firearms, although this doesn’t seem to have made any difference.
The Guardia Civil were called to the home of the couple at around 02:45 and discovered the two bodies in the garage. The woman was already dead from gunshot wounds from a shotgun, but the former police officer was still alive. He was taken to the hospital comarcal La Inmaculada de Huércal-Overa in Almería but died at around 04:00.
Although the former police officer had been suffering from various psychological problems and had been at a low ebb for some time, there had never been any outward signs of problems within the relationship or complaints from his wife about violence or mistreatment.
