A 20 year old detainee was found dead in his cell at the Guardia Civil headquarters in Granada yesterday.
The young man had been arrested on Monday after being caught red-handed trying to rob a cafeteria and was being detained while the necessary formalities were completed. He was due to appear in court yesterday.
When police officers went to wake the youth in the morning he did not respond and when they went to investigate they found that he was dead. He was sharing a cell with another detainee who was unaware that his cellmate had passed away during the night.
The death is though to be from natural causes although an investigation is being carried out by the Homicidios de la Brigada Provincial de Policía Judicial unit.
The dead youth, initials PJL, had a long criminal record with eighteen prior arrests for robbery with violence.
