Numancia are looking hot favourites for promotion from Division 2 after a 2-1 win over second placed Málaga C.F. The Blue and Whites have been slipping up a bit recently, unfortunately.
Third placed Sporting Gijón were held to a 3-3 draw by struggling Gimnàstic on Saturday. The Asturians took the lead three times, twice through Bilic and then through Omar, but goals from Buades, Campano and Moisés kept evening things out.
The relegation situation is hotting up. Xerez have moved to within a point of Nàstic after beating local rivals Cádiz 2-1, Yordi getting the winner in the last minute after Dani had equalised Aythami’s earlier strike. Alavés lost 2-0 to neighbours Eibar are now only a point above the bottom four, Racing Ferrol moved away from the danger zone with a 2-1 victory over regional opponents Celta, an Agus own goal giving them the three points after earlier goals from Chema Mato and then Rosada.
In La Liga, Real Madrid travelled to Mallorca and came away with just the one point after a 1-1 draw. Sneijder gave Real an early lead but Borja Valero equalised for the home side just after the visitors were reduced to ten men, Sergio Ramos receiving his marching orders after a second bookable offence.
